The a2basicTranslator application allows Applesoft BASIC program
files created on Apple II computers to be converted into
human-readable text program listings, providing functionality similar
to the BASIC "list" command. This application will run on MacOS
10.2.x or later.
This 0.9 version of a2basicTranslator is capable of reading and
converting most Applesoft BASIC programs. Any uncorrupted program
should translate correctly, and some corrupted programs which contain
extraneous bytes or duplicate program lines can be translated
(although the resulting listing will reflect those errors). A
forthcoming 1.0 version will provide more control over the
translation process, allowing programs with more serious file format
errors to be translated as well, however there is no firm date when
that will occur (which is the reason why this older build of the
application is being released).

Acme Filters 2.3.6 (C)1997 by Eric V. Curtis All rights reserved
Acme Filters takes the place of many separate freeware/shareware
utilities you may be currently using. It started out as a simple
file converter to translate some old Smith-Corona word processor
files into text files I could use on my Macintosh. Then I realized
my code would make a good shell for any type of drag-and-drop filter.
So, I combined several filters I occasionally use into one "all-purpose"
drag-and-drop application. Full source code is also included so you
can add your own filters or modify the included filters.

FAT VERSION - CONTAINS BOTH 680x0 AND NATIVE POWERPC CODE
Alex's Encrypt is a simple encryption utility that encrypts
one file at a time. The encryption key is stored in a
variable-length key file that can be as small as 512 bytes or
as large as the entire file to encrypt.
Using a key file instead of a password makes the encryption
only suitable for cases where the key can be stored in a
different location or sent separately to the receiver.
I built this utility so that I could store large encrypted
files in my ftp directory and send relatively small key files
by e-mail to the people that had to download them. Password
protection on the compressed archives was not enough, since it
still allowed everyone to peek at the archive's contents.
New in version 1.0.1:
- Now freeware, updated documentation and recompiled with
the CodeWarrior 9.

CptExpand 1.00 is a freeware utility to decompress Compact Pro
archives. It is written by Bill Goodman, the author of Compact
Pro. The advantage of this program over Extractor, the other
free Compact Pro decompression utility, is that it is small
enough to run in 512K of memory. However, if you don't have the
Hierarchical File System (HFS), you will need to install the
HD20 INIT in your System folder. This can usually be obtained
from Macintosh user groups or from on-line services such as
Compuserve.
CptExpand has the same creator type as Compact Pro, which allows
it to automatically open when such an archive is double-clicked
(but it should then only be used if you *don't* use Compact Pro
or Extractor).

Type: Application
Author: Natsu Sakimura
Date: 1994.02.21
System Requirement: System 7.0 or later
Distribution: DONATEWARE(Freeware) (see Asking your favour:
section below for terms and conditions)
Description:
------------
CRLF is a drag & drop application which performs
the conversion of CR(Mac), LF(Unix) and CRLF(PC) files. It
auto-detects the end of line code of the file which was
dropped and converts to the desired file type. Once you
have set up the preference, you will rarely need to make
any interaction with CRLF later.
CRLF converts the file "in place". The filename stays the
same before and after the conversion. You will notice that
it was converted just by looking at the icons. You can
set up these icons by specifying the creator for each type
of output file.
Also, CRLF is capable of dealing with Japanese text, unlike
some other similar utilities.
New Features:
-------------
Fixed the bug that did not process the file properly if
the input and output EOL characters were the same.
Thus, you can now use it to just change the creator.

scratch pad', as they call it in the cypher biz.
Cyphercard does not just use simple pointers into the
reference document, but modulates those pointers
using offsets which are also taken from that
document. It uses various other encoding techniques
as well.
None of this is complicated or tricky. It doesn't
need to be. The security of the code is not
compromised at all by knowing exactly how it was
coded. All the security comes from the fact that the
code depends on the reference document and the
password. The upshot is that anyone who knows which
reference document and password to use can decode any
document that was encoded with that reference
document and password. Anyone who does not know that
document and password will not be able to decode the
target document.
Cyphercard requires a PowerPC Macintosh and Hypercard 2.4.

Subject: DataConverter 1.3
DataConverter is a fairly simple, yet powerful, program for parsing large
fixed record length datafiles (i.e. each record is defined as containing a
certain number of characters) into tab or comma separated data files which
can then be imported into most Macintosh database applications. This
allows data dumps from most coporate databases to then be viewed and
manipulated on a Mac so that you can search the data as you like, generate
whatever reports you need yourself, or whatever.
This new version allows files with records of up to 5000 characters in
length to be parsed, and adds some improvements to the user interface.

Data Parser 4.1
Data Parser is a nifty ÔlittleÕ stack for transforming data
from Column format to Delimited format or to change the
delimiter of your data file.
Why should you want to do that? Well, basically because the
statistical software you use wants the data in a specific
format. E.g. a certain widely used statistical package for
mainframes likes its data to be in column format, while a
widely used spreadsheet for the Macintosh wants its data in
ÔTabÕ or ÔcommaÕ delimited format. (OK, a spreadsheet is NOT
statistical software, but it just goes as an example.)
Although most statistical software offers services for the
exchange of data between packages, usually, at least in my
experience, the one you need just isn't there. So faced with
the need to move data from a mainframe to my Macintosh, and
the complete lack of portability of the data files I
conceived, created and wrote Data Parser.
Do NOT rename data parser, at least ont function in it
relies on the fact that the stack is named "Data Parser 4.1"
Data Parser NEEDS Hypercard 2.1 or later. It has been tested
on a Classic running system 6.0.7 with 2.5 Mb of RAM and
Hypercard 2.1
Data Parser is Use ware, if you find it usefull USE it.

DeHQX v2.0.1 is an application to decode BinHex 4.0 encoded documents.
It will ignore all headers and comp.binaries.mac part seperators,
handles multiple encoded documents in one file, or split across multiple
files, decode files or folders of files. It runs happily in the background
with little affect on foreground processes. Its not all that fast, so
just drop the files on DeHQX and then ignore it and they will be magically
decoded.
This version corrects an incompatibility with AppleScript. Hopefully I haven't
added any new bugs, I haven't looked at this code in years. I strongly
recomend you look at StuffIt Expander if DeHQX is any use to you, since it
does most of what DeHQX does, and a lot more (and its free too).

very minor.

What Is EnScrypt?
It is sophisticated software to do encryption. Built as a "Scripting
Addition", EnScrypt is an indispensable tool for software developers,
script writers and anyone needing to provide encryption security on
the Macintosh platform. Encryption is provided for EnScrypt by the
"Blowfish" algorithim. "Blowfish" is one of several very secure and
well-known symmetric encryption algorithims.
EnScrypt (Lite): Freeware. This is a demo version of EnScrypt which
is restricted in the power of its encryption, but its 24 bits of
encryption power make it satisfactory for many security purposes. It
is available via FTP at ftp://ftp.highwinds.com, and as an email
attachment via autoresponder at
mailto://1001-EnScryptLite.sit@ar.highwinds.com
EnScrypt (Custom): This is a proprietary version of EnScrypt only for
Macintosh developers. It uses strong encryption (56 bits and higher),
and is released only with customized access codes. Proprietary
versions can be developed for anyone subject to export restrictions.
Prices for licencing available upon request.
More information: mailto://support@highwinds.com data security package that
brings data access protection and data validation functions to the 4th
Dimension environment in the form of a standard 4D plug-in. Available on
both Macintosh and Windows platforms, it uses industry standards to
provide both a one-way hash function and a public key digital
signature for text and string values. DataProtector's one-way hash
function can be used to provide context specific password features
such as requiring management validation for large orders or checks;
password verification for access to sensitive data; and any other
function where a password can be stored within a data file.
DataProtector's digital signature function can be used to verify that
a particular piece of data was created by the person who claims to
have created it. It also verifies that the data has not been modified
since it was created. Digital signatures are especially useful for
communications between remote 4D systems.

Extension to Type Mappings
There are many circumstances where files from alien (non-Mac) file
systems are imported onto a Mac. Usually it is desirable to assign a
Mac file "Type" and "Creator" code to such files, so that they can be
operated upon, or merely viewed, by an appropriate Mac application.
Unless you are prepared to inspect the contents of the file itself and
deduce an appropriate Mac type/creator, the only evidence for the type
of the file is the "filename extension" commonly used in DOS, OS/2, Unix
and other systems. With certain Mac applications, automatic mapping of
filename extensions to Mac type/creator codes can be achieved. A list
of suggested mappings follows.

a version in RTF format. Please, incorporate this RTF file into the original
"HQXer" archive!! If you have already distributed HQXer, don't worry about
resending it or anything, the documentation is the same, except that it's now
in RTF format.
Thanks for your time... I appreciate your help! *Stiles

From: Greg Smith
This StuffIt archive contains the MacBinary application and a MacWrite
document. Some methods of downloading MacBinary files (FTP to a Mac,
for example) can only download to the data fork of the Macintosh file.
The MacBinary program will translate such data files into their correct
components (info, data, rsrc). There is an Upload feature to translate a
Mac file into a MacBinary data file, suitable for uploading via FTP.
The True MacBinary setting is for the case of catenating the three
pieces of a MacBinary file on unix into one text file prior to
downloading. With some versions of xbin and macget, the resulting forks
on unix are not padded out to the 128 byte blocks that the MacBinary
standard specifies. Turning True MacBinary off will handle this case.
The MacBinary utility will only create True MacBinary II files for
Uploading, regardless of the True MacBinary setting. The Delete after
Download setting will delete the input data file after successfully
translating it to a Macintosh file.
This is version 1.0.1.
Please feel free to post this package on other servers. It's freeware.

MacBinary II+ is a System 7 drag&drop converter for MacBinary files. It
has no User Interface, simply drop a MacBinary file on it and it will be
decoded, drop any other file or folder on it and it will be encoded.
MacBinary II+ should be fully compatible with all current MacBinary
encoders/decoders, and extends the format to include folder hierarchies
(although no other decoder will be able to decode folder hierarchy
MacBinary files created by MacBinary II+).
Version 1.0.1 corrects a problem that stopped MacBinary II+ from
recognizing MacBinary I files. I don't normally like posting such
a minor change, but since I don't have any grand plans for the program
anyway, and since the problem is fairly noticable, I decided to post
this fixed version.
MacBinary II+ should work on any System 7 Mac. If it doesn't, let me know.
MacBinary II+ is free for any use.
Hope its useful to someone,
Peter.

Ever notice that when you look around for 'C' code which encodes/decodes
MacBinary III files. It's hard to find, and certainly it's harder to have to
make it fit into your code. This code is completely free, and may be used
for any purpose.
The OSAX is a simple interface which enables the code to be used via
Applescript. I use it so that I won't have to install Stuffit? from Alladin
on each of my work machines. This also makes scripts easier to write, as
there aren't ever any problems locating StuffIt.

version 1.1 fixes a bug in the decoder, and improves speed considerably, of
both the encoder and decoder.
Have you ever looked around for some good HQX code so that you could include
creating HQX files in your automated process? Well this is it. While I'll
admit it is not the fastest code in the universe, it is certainly easy to
read, and fairly well documented. As well as being free, this gives you
everything you need to make an HQX program. The code supports both
encoding and decoding, however the encoding DOES NOT do RLE compression, but
the decoder does support decoding RLE compression in the HQX file.
I've included the binhex.txt file, which I used to write my code from. The
OSAX ditributed here, is completely free as well, and may be used for any
purpose. I use it to remove the use of StuffIt? to encode distributables,
from my Applescripts. This makes my Applescripts correctly all the time, as
there are not any problems locating the StuffIt application.

MacCPIO is a quick and dirty CPIO archive creator utility. The intent was
to write a program for the Mac with a Mac "look and feel" that would
generate a CPIO archive which could then be uncompacted on a Unix machine.
The inspiration behind this was things like SunTAR and the fact that I wanted
to do this at work for archiving lots of Mac source code in a Unix format.
Mostly however, I must confess that it seemed like a nifty little project to
use as a learning example in Mac programming.

Subject: MacEncrypt 2.0
MacEncrypt 2.0 is a major upgrade to MacEncrypt 1.01, the drag and drop
encryption program for the Macintosh.
MacEncrypt will allow you to encrypt files using the "Data Encryption
Standard." Encrypted files can only be used if you know the password.
Groups of files can also be encrypted into an encrypted archive.
MacEncrypt can be placed on the desktop next to the trash can and files can
simply be dropped on top of it to be encrypted.
Features added with this release include:
o A single executable that runs on all Macs. Color will be used on color Macs.
o Archives. Multiple files can be archived in a single archive file with a
single password.
o Reusable passwords. Multiple files can be encrypted or decrypted with a
single password. Previous versions required that you retype the password for
each file.
o File shredding. Files encrypted with previous versions of MacEncrypt were
susceptible to viewing with low-level disk editing programs if the encrypted
files were kept on the same disk. "Extra Security" is now an option. This
feature will overwrite the place on disk where the encrypted file used to be
so that it will never be readable by anything.
o Archived items can be left or deleted after archiving.
MacEncrypt is shareware. The shareware fee is $10.00. The program
continues to be supported, developed and improved. Registered users are
informed of free upgrades. Site licenses are also available.

MacPGP Control (or MPGPC for short) is an AppleScript(R) application
that offers an easy-to-use, more Macintosh(R) friendly user interface
to Philip Zimmermann's PGP software ãMacPGP(R).
MacPGP Control relies on your AppleScript-aware version of MacPGP to
perform encryption and decryption. It is a US$15 shareware.
The main features of MPGPC are:
*** MacPGP related features
+ Compatible with all known scriptable versions of MacPGP including
the MIT versions and the MacPGP 2.6.3i.
+ Keypair generation of any allowed (by MacPGP) length up to 2048-bit.
+ Update of PGP public key information of user keyring members through
TCP/IP connection.
+ Definition and use of nicknames for Users and Groups recipients.
+ More user control for keyring related actions, through a true
Macintosh Human Interface and ãin some casesã direct manipulation of
keyring file data, including: editing trust flag byte,
enabling/disabling, extracting, checking, certifying, fingerprinting,
and forcing Warn-Only bits.
+ More user control for PGP and conventionally encrypting text and
binary files. When PGP encrypting file, users can designate more than
one recipient.
+ Secure clean clear-signed PGP ciphers, through the implementation of
features such as: expanding tabs, transliterating non-USASCII
characters, and word-wrapping lines before processing and handing over
to email application.
+ Viewing of PGP packets for educational and debugging purposes.
+ Opaque signing (asciified clear-signed text)
+ Transparent use of user's UserIDs found in his/her secret keyring file.
+ Encryption to multiple recipients.
+ Generation of Key Revocation Certificates.
*** Macintosh related features
+ Encryption of voice messages recorded by Mac sound input devices.
+ Easy to use, point-and-click Macintosh User Interface.
+ Extensive support of drag-and-drop.
+ Documented handlers calls for use by other scriptors.

I've seen a couple of reports that the MacBooz .zoo file extractor
doesn't always produce good files. Here's an alternative, that also has
some limitations but may work better (It's 50K bytes larger, so it
should do more, yes?). I haven't had an occasion to use either program,
so I can't say whether either works or not.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR MacZOO 2.1
1/7/92
The interface to MacZOO is a command line interface -- sorry, but
we wanted to modify a minimum amount of the code written by ZOO's
creator, Rahul Dhesi. After double clicking on the MacZOO icon,
type in the command line arguments as described in ZOO.MAN. For
example, if on a UNIX or MS-DOS command line you would type "zoo
a temp *.c" (which would add all files with names ending in ".c"
to a ZOO archive called "temp.zoo"), you would enter "a temp *.c"
in the MacZOO startup window.
Also, MacZOO will not archive and compress anything but text files.
Executable files on the Mac, for example, are not single files like
they are on most other systems, and so ZOO would have to be
extensively modified to handle them.
Thus, MacZOO is intended as a program to handle archives of text
files which will be transferred among various machines. Since ZOO
runs on UNIX machines, OS/2 machines, NeXTs, Amigas, Ataris, and
MS-DOS machines, Macs can now handle ZOO files created by these
machines and vice versa. Even Apple II's and CP/M machines have
unZOO programs.
ZOO 2.1 was ported to the Mac by Jim Wolff and Brooke Anderson,
who assume no responsibility for the results of using MacZOO --
even if it causes your computer to explode, killing everyone within
a several block radius.

MooMooEncode is an amazingly useful program that lets you translate

This version adds support for Apple's Thread Manager so you can cow-ify

Pacifist 1.6 is a shareware application that opens Mac OS X .pkg
package files and allows you to extract individual files and folders
out of them. This is useful, for instance, if an application which is
installed by the operating system becomes damaged and needs to be
reinstalled without the hassle of reinstalling all of Mac OS X (for
example, if you had accidentally deleted Sherlock and wanted to
reinstall it, but not the whole operating system). Pacifist is also
able to verify existing installations and find missing or altered
files*, and also has the ability to optimize your system's performance
by updating prebinding information on your hard disk.
*This product includes software developed by the University of
California, Berkeley and its contributors.
Changes in this version:
- Compatibility with Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and its packages
- Fixed some minor interface flaws
- Small performance increases
- Made the verify feature check the file size if the package does not
specify a checksum
- Fixed some bugs in extracting identical files from a package
- Loading a package is now done in a separate thread
- It is now possible to cancel loading of a package
- Fixed a spurious disk-full error
- Pacifist now notifies the Finder when it installs a file so that it
will update immediately
- Pacifist is now much smarter about dealing with situations when it is
asked to extract files from a package on a disk that is no longer
inserted

This program is similar to PictResUtils by Roland Gustavsson. I needed to
do just what that program did, move PICTs between resources and the single-
file format, but had no access to the existing program at the time.
Pict2Pict supports drag-and-drop, should work under System 6 as well as 7.
It uses temporary memory when needed, so its own partition size is minimal.
When you open files with Pict2Pict, each PICT is displayed, so you can choose
whether to save it or skip it, or save all.

PKZIP Mac is an advanced data compression program for Macintosh
systems running System 7 or higher. PKZIP Mac is compatible
across many computer platforms, allowing you to transfer zipped files
from one computer to another.
While powerful, PKZIP Mac is easy to use. You can customize PKZIP Mac's
settings with a variety of options. For example: use a faster
compression method for speedier operations, use a higher compression
ratio to save the most disk space, or use passwords to prevent
unauthorized access to your most sensitive files.
PKZIP Mac is a program for compressing data files. Compressed files take
up less disk space. Compressed files are stored in a single Zip Archive.
You could think of a Zip Archive file as an envelope for files. When a
file is compressed, a copy of the file is placed into the Zip Archive.
Putting files in a Zip Archive makes your file lists less confusing.
Many files can be included in one Zip Archive.

This is the latest version of a stuffed and binhexed utility application for
converting Microsoft Word RTF files, including most formula codes,
into Plain TeX files.
It is almost *certain* that editing the converted document
will be necessary to produce a TEXT file that can be read with a TeX
processor, however, this utility should take some pain out of converting
a technical Word document to TeX (especially mathematics).
* Runs under System 6 or 7
* Does batch processing
* Conversion tables in dialog resources (Is this a "feature"?)
Included is a document file written in Microsoft Word and a "before" and
"after" file. I have also included the end result of conversion with
rtf2tex, a public domain Unix version, which apparently is designed with a
different task in mind.
Updates:
1) New paragraph inserted at least every 500 characters, so long text files
should
not choke OzTeX.
2) Object and Pict code simply deleted.

Date: Wed, 30 Mar 94 23:59:09 EST
set-aux-binary is a freely redistributable utility that
sets the type and creator of input files to 'BIN '/'A/UX'.
This permits binary files downloaded to a Mac partition
to be copied to an A/UX unix partition without invoking
A/UX's automatic carriage-return-to-newlines conversion,
which can cause file corruption.
usage: in the System 7.x Finder, drag-and-drop icon(s)
representing unix binary file(s) onto the set-aux-binary icon.
set-aux-binary is based on ctc 1.2 by Brian Bechtel,
with minor changes: its TextEdit boxes for user input
default to 'BIN '/'A/UX', which saves keystrokes, and
it touches the parent folder to update the Finder icons.
Note that set-aux-binary won't repair a binary file that
has been mistakenly downloaded in ascii mode to a MacOS
partition. In such cases, see the A/UX FAQ, available
on jagubox.gsfc.nasa.gov in /pub/aux, for detailed
instructions and try, try again ...

StuffIt Lite 3.6 is accelerated for Power Macintosh. Expansion of files on many
platforms is accelerated. StuffIt Lite compresses files an average of 60%,
creating a document called an archive. Archives save disk space, speed modem
and network file transfers, and make backups easier. StuffIt is the international
standard of file compression and archiving on all major online services
(including America Online and CompuServe) and thousands of bulletin board systems.
*Drag and Drop Support
StuffIt Lite 3.6 has drag and drop support making compression and expansion easy
to perform. To expand a file in a StuffIt archive, the user simply drags the
file onto the desktop. A file can be Stuffed by dragging it onto an archive or
into an open archive window. (This drag and drop functionality requires System
7.1.1 or higher.)
*AppleScript Support
A suite of Apple events for registered copies of StuffIt Lite allow the program
to be automated using Apple's scripting technology. StuffIt Lite is also fully
recordable; just like a tape recorder, a user can perform a series of actions
and the script will be automatically written.
*Other Information
StuffIt Lite 3.6 features other capabilities found in previous versions, including
the ability to password protect archives, to create self-extracting archives and
to segment archives for fitting large files across multiple floppy disks. StuffIt
Lite 3.6 comes complete with an online guide.
Aladdin is offering StuffIt Lite 3.6 free to registered users of StuffIt Lite 3.5.
Otherwise, StuffIt Lite 3.6 upgrades cost $15 for all other previous versions.
StuffIt Lite is copyrighted shareware. After using StuffIt Lite for 15 days,
users are honor-bound to send Aladdin a $30 registration fee. By registering
StuffIt Lite, the user receives added benefits including AppleScriptability,
free technical support and updates, enhanced features, and special pricing
on other Aladdin products.

This is a simple little patch i made with ResCompare. What it does is it
takes out the opening and closing windows on stuffit4.0 self extracting
archive. No more clicking continue and no more hitting quit (it also
eliminates the beep at the end) use this how you want. I have also included
a patch that puts it back in. Have fun, and one more thing, i am not
responsible for any loss of infomation. Use this at your own risk. I use it
myself nd have had no problems. works fine on password encrypted sea's too.

Terrainman 2.0 is a Pict-DXF utility. It will take greyscale Pict files
and convert then into 3D DXF terrain files that you can export to almost
all popular Mac 3D rendering apps.
New features include:
The program now draws in true 3D (with optional perspective) instead of
isometric.
Terrain can be rotated to any of 64,800 views instead of just, um, four.
Predefined views (front, side, top, etc.) let you see your model's true
proportions.
Pictures can be pasted from the clipboard or opened from files.
A "clipping plane" can be used, which will omit all polygons below a
certain altitude.
The display now offers your choice of colors.
Now saves DXF files much MUCH faster.
Will optionally strip leading spaces from DXF files, to make the files smaller.
Even unstripped DXF files are somewhat smaller than they used to be.
Sports a slick new animated splash screen.
Sports several slick new interface graphics.
And finally, Terrainman now sports a slick new PRICE: $10. Freeware no more.

UnUU is a tiny Macintosh utility that deals UU coded chunks sent to news
groups. It knows how to rebuild the original file and to decode UU files.
It can give produced files a file type and a creator depending on the file
names suffix. It can even open those produced files.
UnUU requires System 7 or better.
UnUU is a fat binary that works fine & fast on any Mac, but requires a
68020 or better.
UnUU has a very complete feature set, it's very fast, reliable and eficient.
UnUU works very well with NewsWatcher. You just need to tell NewsWatcher to
use UnUU as its "uudecode helper program" in the "Extracting binaries"
preferences settings. A picture can be downloaded, decoded and opened by
your favorite graphic editor in just one keystroke (cmd-B).
If you deal with UU files, try it ! It's probably the most completly
featured utility for uu-decoding file on a Mac. It's also among the fastest
I know of. And it's a PostcardWare !
Size of the archive : 30k (+hqx).
Georges-Edouard Berenger.
This version adds the capability to process files of an abitrary size.
Version 2.1
* If there is not enough memory to read an entire file in memory at once
even with temporary memory, UnUU will read it part by part if the clever
mode is not selected.
* Sped up a few things.
Version 2.0.2
* Tried to improve the notice.
* Fixed minor bugs in the preference dialog box.
* Tuned some integers sizes to be optimal on both 68k and PPC machines.
* Various little comestic changes.
Version 2.0.1
* Removed bug where selecting a file type or creator by expample would
change the specified folder for creating files.
* Improved the way the destination folder is tracked. The destination
folder can now be renamed, moved around, etc.
* Improved the way name conflicts between files and folders are resolved.
Version 2.0
* Created a complete preference dialog box that lets users select ALL
settings (no more ResEdit !).
* One can choose to create the produced file either in the folder of the
source file or in a specified folder.
* Source files can be automatically deleted, moved to the trash, organized
in a folder or left where they are. They can also be renamed after the name
of the produced files.
* Removed the useless debug mode.
* Improved the way name conflicts are resolved.
* UnUU now reports in the about dialog box which code (PPC or 68K) is active.
* Compiled with CodeWarrior 7.

UnarjMac does not currently support macintosh path names or creator/type

Subject: UULite 3.0 Release for the Macintosh
I am pleased to announce the release of UULite version 3.0 for the
Macintosh. UULite is one of the fastest, most powerful and easiest to
use smart uudecoder/uuencoders available for the Macintosh.
UULite is one of the first and best uuencoder/ uudecoders available for
the Macintosh. It's a highly optimized, single-pass, disk-based
uudecoder/ uuencoder. Because it's disk based, it's never necessary to
adjust its memory partition to handle any file -- no matter how large.
UULite version 3.0 now runs native on both Power Macs and 680x0
Macintoshes. If the task is to uudecode/uuencode files, UULite will
save you time and aggravation.
Version 3.0 has the following features:
* One-step Smart uudecoding:
- Multi-part file decoding with automatic header and footer removal - no
editing required
- Ability to decode source files containing multiple output image files
- Drag and Drop decoding of any number of files
- Ability to automatically move source file to the trash
- File Merge and Decode for decoding images from multiple input files
* One-step uuencoding with file splitting to simplify Usenet posting
* Smart automatic file Type and Creator stamping - user configurable
* Manual file Type and Creator editing on any file
* UNIX <=> Mac text conversion
* No Frills uudecoding
* Direct and unambiguous feedback on progress
* Background processing: decode/encode in the background while you work on
other things
* Help and Usenet Read News Tutorial
* Improved NewsWatcher compatibility
* Ability to use other programs as helper programs
- You can now configure UULite to feed decoded files to other programs
(launching them if necessary). Imagine selecting an uuencoded image
file in NewsWatcher, choosing "Extract Binaries" and having the image
decoded and fed to a program like JPEGView for immediate display on
your screen...all in one step.

Description follows
----------
UUParser 1.72 is now avaialble. This is a major upgrade to version 1.71,
with many fixes, and additional features.
UUParser is one of the easiest to use file strippers and
uuencoders/uudecoders available for the Mac. It support several different
encoding methods (mac->unix, unix->mac, AIFF->ULAW, AIFF->Linear), and is
the fastest decoder avaialbe for the Macintosh. It can operate fully in
the background (for unattended encoding/decoding of several files), and
lots more!
Here are some things you may want to know about UUParser:
UUParser 1.72 & 1.8 features
% Automatic stripping of header information from files "S"aved
from a usenet newsgroup.
% "Smart" uudecoding. Fully user configurable.

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
This is the first official release of uuUndo, a fast, free batch uudecoding
utility for the Macintosh. Although uuUndo was originally designed to work
with John Norstad's NewsWatcher, it does quite nicely in its own right as a
standalone drag and drop smart uudecoder.
uuUndo is shipped as a fat binary, running incredibly quickly on PowerPC
machines, and makes full use of asynchronous I/O to ensure smooth operation
in the background. Because it is based on Leonard Rosenthal's DropShell
code, uuUndo is also fully scriptable and recordable. uuUndo requires
System 7.
If you find any bugs or have any comments, please email me at
giles@med.cornell.edu. Thank you.

BinHex is also available for PC. StuffIt Expander-win decodes BinHex;
XferPro can also encode files to BinHex. In addition XferPro handles
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) 1.0, UU and XX.
Note that BinHex (hqx) files must use dos end of line characters (cr & lf),
otherwise this version of XferPro doesn't recognize them.

Subject: ZipIt 1.4
ZipIt 1.4 is a full-featured Macintosh utility to zip and unzip files. ZipIt
allows you to compress files and send them to friends and coworkers working
on PCs, Unix machines, or any other platform where the zip compression
format is standard, and to unzip any zip file as well. ZipIt is fully
compatible with all versions of PKZip, WinZip, and Info-Zip.
In addition, ZipIt allows you to compress Macintosh files without losing
essential Macintosh data. In version 1.4, ZipIt is smarter about which files
are Macintosh files, and which are not, allowing you to easily transmit zip
files to Mac and PC colleagues with no extra hassle.
ZipIt version 1.4 also adds the ability to create self-extracting zip
archives that will operate either on a Mac or a PC running Windows. Now you
don't have to worry about whether or not the person you're sending your zip
file to has an unzipping program. If you specify that the archive should be
self-extracting, then the recipient merely double-clicks on the archive, and
it will unzip itself.
ZipIt is fully AppleScriptable, meaning that you can automate its operation
and perform complex and repetitive archival tasks. Version 1.4 significantly
enhances ZipIt's AppleScript capabilities.
ZipIt is $15 shareware. The ZipIt web site may be found at
http://www.maczipit.com. ZipIt may be included on CD-ROM shareware
collections, provided that the CD-ROM is not sold for profit, beyond a
distribution or compilation charge. ZipIt may also be included on CD-ROMs
that accompany a technical book or publication.
